There are some formatting elements you’ll need to consider before uploading and taking your publication to the digital world. If you’ve already chosen flip books (PDF to Flash) as the ideal ‘experience’ for your audience, here are some tips that will ensure you get the best results:

1. Add bookmarks and links. The most important digital publishing service providers let you retain all the formatting you put into your PDFs. You can include internal links to pages as well as external links to websites such as your advertisers.
2. Choose and embed fonts. Make sure all the fonts you used on your publication are embedded in the PDF. Most design programs offer that option. Also, when searching for fonts, compare the readability of those to these. Contrast between the font color and background color should also be considered.

1. Plan for dynamic, rich content and widgets. Always keep in mind that video, audio and animations could enrich your publications and add value to advertisers. When planning content for a digital edition, it is also good to know that these elements can become essential story elements, attract traffic and engage readers by themselves.

1. Confirm website links. While Acrobat (all versions) may show some website links as active, make sure the actual links have been created by running the following tool in Acrobat Professional ® From the main menu. Choose Advanced > Document Processing > Create Links from URLs.
2. Be happy with your PDF before uploading it. Before publishing, you must double check all the content – including design, photos, grammar and spelling.  Once your PDF is uploaded and formatted, no further changes can be made to that digital edition. If you re-upload a PDF, all formatting changes (links, articles and clippings) will be lost.
3. Format. Your file must be saved in Adobe® PDF format (up to version 1.6).
